    Rene Spring was elected to his first term on the Morgan Hill City Council in November 2016.
    Rene has lived in Morgan Hill for over 15 years. He is married to Mark, an artist, and a proud step-father to 3 adult children and ‘Opa’ to his 3 wonderful little grand-kids. Rene’s family includes four beautiful cats including “Olaf” – possibly Morgan Hill’s most famous Maine Coon cat.

    He moved from Switzerland to the Bay Area in 1998, and became a proud US citizen in 2006. Rene is a director of program management at Cadence Design Systems.

    For many years, Rene has been active in our community as Planning Commissioner, as former board member and president of Leadership Morgan Hill, as well as former board member and president of the Morgan Hill Community Foundation. He is also the creator of It’s Ours. Our Morgan Hill. – a Facebook page with over 20,000 followers promoting the beauty of our wonderful town. Rene very much enjoys strolling around our town, meeting with friends, dining out, and hiking up in our hills.

    Rene is a big art lover and likes to watch movies, to attend art shows, musicals and theater shows. Rene is a huge animal lover.

    He very much enjoys traveling and has been to many countries over the years.

    Rene very much enjoys serving our community as Council member and to meet residents for a chat, coffee or walk.

    He is a proven community leader in South County, engaged, passionate, experienced.
    He is your voice to slow down growth to prevent Urban Sprawl and to protect the environment!
